Bluegrass Review Nov 25-Dec 1, 2017 (second hour) #1648

We all know how popular train songs are in bluegrass. We open the show with a couple that feature trains cutting through the landscape, and the second one, tells of life on the train. Country songwriter and singer merle Haggard had a rough start to his life. Before straightening out his life, he served time in jail. But he used these experiences as a resource for his writing which is often gritty. And that’s why bluegrass fans love Merle. Later, we talk to Hal Cottrell of Bellvue, NE, and he plays some of his original bluegrass songs for us.
