Bluegrass Review June 10, 2017-June, 16, 2017 (second hour) #1624

April Verch put one of the unconventional songs of the late John Harford on her current CD. That was all the inspiration we needed to put on a song by former Hartford bandmates, and a couple involving John Hartford himself. On the Gem of Bluegrass, we muse over the high voice in bluegrass music. Later we talk to Tim Newby, author of Bluegrass in Baltimore: The Hard Drivin’ Sound and Its Legacy. Tim references many of the great figures connected over time with Baltimore bluegrass, and we play some great Baltimore bluegrass.
