Bluegrass Review May 20, 2017-May 26, 2017 #1721

Early on today’s broadcast, we play a couple of recent songs about love. They are not broken hearted melodies, but romantic songs depicting happy couples. Later our Gem of Bluegrass discusses Bill Monroe’s uncompromising musical attitude. Monroe was of course, musically broad. But he had a way of putting his stamp on the bulk of his repertoire. Later, we play some recent road songs. Then, we learn about the Missouri Valley idiom of fiddling from Omaha fiddler Mindy Hunke.
