Bluegrass Review May 13, 2017-May 19, 2017 (second hour) #1620

Early in the show, we welcome Spring which is taking place in almost every location the show is broadcast. Then we present songs that are as lonesome as they come, about the funeral and the time right after it. The Gem of Bluegrass focuses on the Skillet Lickers legacy. Around 1930, the Skillet Lickers delighted old-time audiences with renditions of old-time dance music, and the group has served as a model ever since. Later we talk to Cody Walters. Cody is the banjoist in the April Verch band, and he tells us about some of the tunes he plays and composes.
