Bluegrass Review May 6, 2017-May 12, 2017 #1719

There is a steady stream of bluegrass treatments of country songs a generation and more old. We play a couple of gems from the current crop of bluegrass releases. On our Gem of Bluegrass, we muse over the evolution of the bluegrass-blues connection. It’s always been there in bluegrass music, but the connections differ today as compared to a generation ago. Later, we consider songs about kids. Old school songs about kids frequently place kids of victims of circumstances. But today, songs about kids are likely to be nostalgic, or simply describe what it is like to grow up.
